STALYBRIDGE halted Trinity’s 11-game unbeaten run, despite being down to ten men for nearly an hour.
An eighth-minute penalty set the visitors on their way – Paddy Lacey converting after Jordan Adebayo-Smith had upended Scott Metcalf.
Celtic were reduced to ten when Craig Hobson was shown a straight red card for dissent just after the half-hour for dissent.
Tempers threatened to boil over as the referee was quick to his pocket moments later as Adam O’Reilly slid into a couple of meaty challenges.
