SOUTH SHIELDS struck twice in the last quarter to overcome a stubborn Grantham outfi t.
They took a 12th-minute lead, despite bearing the brunt of the conditions.
Grantham keeper Jon Worsnop made an excellent one-handed save but Lee Mason latched onto the loose ball to fi re the visitors into the lead.
South Shields’ Callum Ross headed just wide and Grantham had a goal bound shot cleared off the line but chances were at a premium as the weather won most exchanges.
