LEAGUE leaders South Shields scored twice in each half at The Northolme to go five points clear at the top of the table.
The visitors broke the deadlock on nine minutes when Darius Osei raced through and finished neatly from an acute angle as the Blues defence appealed in vain for an offside flag.
Nathan Lowe doubled Shields’ advantage when he capitalised on a poor defensive header to drill unerringly past Trinity goalkeeper George Willis.
Trailing at the break, Trinity regrouped but struggled to trouble the table-toppers.
