JOHN PRITCHARD’S fine first-half free-kick proved the difference between the sides as much-fancied Ashton United kicked off their season with a win.
Pritchard stepped up to curl a perfect shot past Stafford keeper Lewis King to put the visitors in front on 13 minutes.
