■WIDNES and Colne played out a well-contested draw at the DCBL Stadium to give the home side their first point of the season.
Colne took the lead on the 10-minute mark when Tom Dean lashed home from 12 yards after Widnes had failed to clear a corner.
The hosts were always in the game and after Mikey Conlon was unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty Colne keeper Hakan Burton had to be alert to deny Kyle Sambor.
Widnes equalised after 38 minutes, with James Steele finishing emphatically after racing on to a lofted Jay Roberts pass.
