■ Spoils with a late goal at spoils with a late goal at the Red Industries Stadium. Newcastle were the better side in the first half and visiting keeper Chris Thompson kept them in the game with a series of fine saves.
Clitheroe made two halftime changes and were the stronger team in the second half although Thompson denied Nathan Morley and again scrambled a goal-line effort away.
The visitors were awarded a penalty for hand ball but Town keeper Owen Mooney saved brilliantly.
