THE conditions were the real winner at Hurst Cross as a heavy surface saw chances at a premium as Ashton and high-flying Bamber Bridge fought out a stalemate.
The visitors had the best of the first half which saw Adam Dawson advance a send a bouncing effort which keeper Greg Hartley needed to push away for a corner.
Dawson then tried an audacious attempt from the halfway line which was just too high and, at the other end, Harry Coates’ header was held as he latched on to Harry Spratt’s knock across.
