■WIDNES made it five successive home wins with victory over Glossop North End.
There was little between the sides in an attritional first half but the Whites did have the better of the chances, particularly when Lloyd Dean had an effort beaten away by the left foot of goalkeeper Harry Allen.
But Dean did get himself on the scoresheet as he broke the deadlock in the 56th minute, steering home a tidy finish from the edge of the box after collecting Alex McMilan’s flick.
