IT WAS a Non-League Day to remember for South Shields as goals from JJ Hooper and Cedric Main gave them victory over Stafford Rangers to remain second.
Shields should have broken the deadlock when a dangerous ball from Blair Adams wasn’t dealt with by Mateusz Hewett in the Stafford goal, but Will Mc-Gowan couldn’t hit the target.
Rangers could have taken the lead themselves as Tom Tonks’ free-kick fizzed goalwards where Myles Boney was just able to tip it over the bar.
