LIAM Hearn’s goal on the stroke of half-time gave Basford United’s survival chance a welcome boost with a single goal victory over Stafford Rangers.
With second from bottom Witton Albion also winning, Basford require a single point from their last two league games to secure safety and send Albion down.
Rangers were keen to impress a bumper crowd of 582 with Kaiman Anderson having an effort saved before Tom Tonks also forced keeper Kieran Preston into action.
