WHITBY lost out to their Lincolnshire visitors in a typical end of season clash.
The hosts needed a 13-goal swing to have any chance of squeezing into the NPL Premier play-offs.
Realistically, they were playing to extend their winning run to three.
They looked capable of doing that early on, Monday’s superb sub at South Shields, Marcus Giles, turned provider to release on-loan Middlesbrough winger Harry Green, but the youngster’s effort lacked power.
