MORPETH Town secured a first win in 11 games with a deserved home victory over Gainsborough Trinity.
The Highwaymen had been on a run of six straight defeats before a draw last time out.
The visitors were chasing this one too, but started sluggishly, with Morpeth capitalising on a bright start through Andrew Johnson’s 17th minute opener; he forced his way through a hesitant defence before slotting confidently into the back of the net.
