WORKINGTON turned on the style to maintain their promotion challenge with a convincing win over stubborn opposition.
Although Newcastle had rarely posed an attacking threat they were still in the contest, trailing to a 42nd minute penalty, until the final quarter. But goals in the 76th and 79th minutes clinched the points.
Scott Allison broke the deadlock from the penalty spot after being tripped in the box. The second goal came when skipper Conor Tinnion curled a ball into the box and Sam Smith placed his header beyond Joseph Slinn.
