■ CITY of Liverpool stunned high flying Workington with an accomplished and deserved victory at the Berry Street Garage stadium.
After a promising start, Paul McNally’s side went ahead from Jack Hazlehurst’s spot kick after Jack Hont’s marauding run down the left saw the defender upended by Kai Nugent.
The Purps made it two when Danny Mitchley’s cross-shot from Max Allen’s free kick was dropped by Reds keeper Jim Atkinson and skipper Pete Wylie bundled home.
