ALEXANDER Duhameau’s second-half strike was the difference maker as Sherwood edged past Ashington in a game where chances were a rarity.
Both sides boasted a well-drilled defence offering precious little in terms of opportunity, the hosts in particular being reduced to a cohort of ranged efforts.
The opener, coming a little shy of the hour, proved to be the difference – and the visitors had the best chance of all to grab the game’s second goal from 12-yards.
