■ HANLEY Town remain bottom of the table, but they were denied a second win of the season by the Newcastle Town crossbar.
Castle, with Jack Sherratt to the fore, had the better of the first half. Potters keeper Daniel Moore saved well from Jake Avery, who then almost turned in Ty Webster’s cross.
At the other end, Joe Slinn kept out efforts from both Kieron Cliff and Dylan Scott.
After the break with Hanley on top, Finley Ryder lobbed Slinn, but to clear.
