Cables went into the game in a poor run of form, but they got their noses in front when they were awarded a penalty for a push in the box on Ben Elliott.

Cables keeper Calvin Hare was frequently called into action and towards the end of the first half he pulled off a magnificent double save as they maintained their lead into the second half.

Macclesfield started the second half brighter and they got their reward when D’Mani Mellor equalised on 50 minutes. Just two minutes later Danny Elliott struck to turn the game on its head. Cables weathered a period of pressure before going on the attack themselves.
