RUNAWAY league leaders Macclesfield had to settle for a share of the spoils from their trip to Prescot Cables.
Cables went into the game in a poor run of form, but they got their noses in front when they were awarded a penalty for a push in the box on Ben Elliott.
James Foley’s shot down the middle was saved but he won the race to the rebound and slotted it past the keeper to make it 1-0 on 14 minutes.
Cables keeper Calvin Hare was frequently called into action and towards the end of the first half he pulled off a magnificent double save as they maintained their lead into the second half.
Macclesfield started the second half brighter and they got their reward when D’Mani Mellor equalised on 50 minutes. Just two minutes later Danny Elliott struck to turn the game on its head. Cables weathered a period of pressure before going on the attack themselves.
Jack Goodwin narrowly missed before a scramble in the box was poked home by John Murphy in the 71st minute to send the home fans into raptures
With six minutes of added time played, Cables’ Matthew Devine saw red after picking up a second yellow card. The Silkmen didn’t have time to make their man advantage pay.
