WIDNES confirmed n that they would be the NPL West’s Christmas number one with an empathic win over Kidsgrove Athletic.
Sean Miller got the opener after 20 minutes of play from the penalty spot after Harry McGee was brought down in the box. After the break, it took Widnes just ten minutes to double the lead with Mc-Gee heading Miller’s cross beyond Kieran Harrison.
Matty Rain got on the scoresheet after 61 minutes, when he curled home a free-kick.
Tom Pope reduced the arrears for Kidsgrove from the penalty spot after Rain handled the ball.
