LEEK Town took a significant step to NPL safety with a hard-fought victory over Bamber Bridge and now sit nine points above the drop zone with only four games left to play.
The only goal of the game came after 19 minutes. An intelligent run by Billy Reeves meant he had time and space in the Brig penalty area to pick out Lucas Weir, who finished from inside the six-yard box. The Blues had already twice gone close before the goal with Weir’s cross-shot and Taylor Bowen’s downward header both just wide of the upright.
