Salford City Number Two Stands Down

BARRY MASSAY has left his position as assistant manager of Salford City.

Massay spent several spells as a player with the Ammies before becoming joint-manager of them alongside Phil Power in the summer of this year.

The Greater Manchester-based club started the NPL Division One North campaign well, going unbeaten in their first six games, but a subsequent dip in form saw Massay step down and become Power’s number two.

However, he much prefers the number one role and decided to tender his resignation on Wednesday.

Barry MassayThat has been accepted by the Ammies, who have appointed another former player, Stuart Rudd, as Power’s new assistant boss.

A statement on the club’s website said: “The committee and supporters wish to thank Barry for his considerable efforts on their behalf and would like to extend very best wishes for the future.”

Stuart Rudd – another ex-Ammie – has been appointed assistant manager following Massay’s exit from Moor Lane.
