CHIPPENHAM TOWN have completed their search for a new striker after former Newport County captain Andy Sandell joined the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier club.
The 31-year-old was Town boss Mark Collier’s number one summer target after his release from League Two side County in May. He previously spent a brief spell with Chippenham back in the 2011-12 season.
Sandell can play in a number of positions, including on the wing, but Collier says Sandell will be leading Chippenham’s attack next season.
“It’s a big signing for this football club considering he was playing in the Football League this time last season,” said boss Collier.
“He’s one that we were looking at all the time as we were aware his contract was up at Newport and he’s a local lad.
“He was an out-and-out striker but I think they played him out on the left. Andy as our number one target as a striker.
“He has a good range of passing and is a good lad. He’s got great strength, experience and knowledge too. We’re very, very pleased to get him on board.”
