North Greenford United appoint former players as joint managers

FORMER players Ricky Pither and Danny Bennell have returned to the club as joint managers.

The pair are back at North Greenford to replace George Bouhet who left with the club rooted at the bottom of the League Southern Division One Central.

They have won just two of their 14 league games so far this season and have lost three in a row to remain three points from safety.

United were reprieved from relegation last season after finishing 21st and Pither and Bennell have been asked to turn their fortunes around.

The pair will be assisted by another ex-Blue in Chris Mills as well as former player Mark Chandler.

A club statement read: “The committee would like to place on record their sincere thanks to George, to coach Fitzroy McLeod and assistant Glen Harris for their contribution to the club not only after taking over first team duties from Barry Morris following his resignation, but also for the work they did in supporting previous senior team managers.

“However, although we fully recognise their hard work, dedication and commitment during this period, we felt that it was in the best interests of the club to make these changes.”
