Pitching In Southern Premier Central club Kettering Town have signed Nile Ranger.
Former Newcastle forward Ranger has been without a club since the summer of 2022 when he departed Boreham Wood. His final outing for the Hertfordshire outfit was as a late substitute in a 2-0 defeat at Everton in the FA Cup 5th Round.
The 33-year-old’s career has been blighted by disciplinary issues, culminating in an eight-month prison sentence in January 2017 for online banking fraud. He was released after 10 weeks and returned to his then-club Southend United, but was unable to initially play in midweek games due to a 7pm curfew.
A statement on Kettering’s official website said:
“Nile has undoubted ability and should offer a different dynamic to the Poppies squad.
“We would like to welcome Nile to Latimer Park and hope he has a successful time with the club.”
He made his debut tonight against St Ives Town in a 2-1 win. Lewis White, who made his second debut, netted the winner.
While Ranger and White have arrived, Remaye Campbell has departed for Matlock Town. The striker had only joined in the summer from Basford United.
