ROBERT Briggs was the difference between the two sides as his pinpoint first-half free-kick sealed three points in front of a crowd of over 1,500.
The home side dominated the opening stages and were rewarded with an early penalty, but Gavin Cogdon’s spot-kick was well saved by Lloyd Rigby.
Shields kept the pressure on and Robert Briggs eventually opened the scoring with a fantastic free-kick that kissed the post before flying in.
Cogdon hit the post just after half-time and then Michael Richardson had a goal ruled out for offside.
