LOOKINGto bounce back from Tuesday’s defeat at Prescot, Atherton Collieries hosted Ossett Town for the first time, but were unable to get the win.
A slow start to the game ensued and both sides struggled to settle in the opening 45.
The only highlight came on 30 minutes when Town goalkeeper Leigh Overton had to be alert to a dangerous Chris Lynch header.
Ossett’s perseverance paid off on 55 minutes when they opened the scoring, Corey Gregory rifling a shot past Adam Reid at the far post from a free-kick.
