GOOLE’S early-season problems continued as they slumped to a seventh successive defeat in league and cup, but did show notable improvement.
The visitors took the lead three minutes before the break when Alex Newby showed excellent ability to comfortably beat goalkeeper Ben Saynor.
When Clitheroe added a second goal ten minutes into the second half through a clinical finish by Kurt Willoughby, it looked as though the home side would be consigned to another heavy defeat.
