SOUTH Shields remain top of the Evo-Stik First Division North after they came from behind to beat Clitheroe.
Gavin Cogdon levelled the score for South Shields in the 38th minute, following a Clitheroe opener courtesy of Alex Newby.
The Mariners took the lead shortly after halftime when Craig Baxter’s cross bounced awkwardly past the Clitheroe keeper.
Carl Finnigan doubled their advantage from close range in the 56th minute, latching onto a clever ball from Jamie Holmes and sliding the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper.
