ALVECHURCH’S promotion hopes were dealt a blow with a surprise home defeat to struggling Spalding.
The Tulips had won just three times on the road in the league this season, but a Ben Davison double earned victory for Chris Rawlinson’s side.
Spalding took the lead on 20 minutes with a Davison header that looped in from the edge of the box.
Church were level almost instantly when Ashley Carter curled in a free-kick.
But it was Spalding who struck when Davison bundled in from a corner and Carter was sent off late on to cap a frustrating day for the hosts
