DIAMONDS returned to form after a six-game winless run, and with it boosted their promotion hopes, as they defeated Aylesbury United thanks to a professional and workmanlike performance when it mattered most.
The opening half hour was fairly uneventful as the hosts especially couldn’t get into a rhythm.
But that all changed in the 34th minute when Ryan Robbins blasted Rushden into the lead with an unerring effort from 30 yards.
