NEWCASTLE Town picked up their first win of the season against nine-man Kendal Town.
Both teams offered very little in front of goal during a drab first half, with Kendal’s best moment falling to Sam Staunton-Turner – whose close-range strike was pushed away by the Newcastle keeper.
The second half was just as tentative but Newcastle opened the scoring after 65 minutes when the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Aaron Bott converted into the bottom left-hand corner.
