WOODBRIDGE Town ace marksman Matt Mackenzie has been told to give up football at the age of 26 after being diagnosed with a heart condition.
The former Felixstowe & Walton United and Ipswich Wanderers player has been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a disease of the heart muscle that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood, and which can lead to heart failure.
Mackenzie had netted 67 goals in 89 games for Woodbridge, including one in last season’s Suffolk Senior Cup final 3-0 victory against Bungay Town at Portman Road.
