A DING-dong battle saw the home side fight back from 3-0 down at the break to 3-3 only to fall to the sucker punch in the dying minutes.
The visitors took the lead through the penalty spot on nine minutes by Oliver Thomas.
Two goals in five minutes by Mark Bell and George Reid extended their lead.
AFC struck back eight minutes into the second half through Newman Carney and when Christian Tavernier reduced the arrears two minutes later, the hosts were back in the game.
Then, on 85 minutes, BJ Christie drew AFC level.
