■ BASILDON United suffered a narrow opening day defeat at the hands of Bury Town, with Cruise Nyadzayo netting the game’s only goal.
Nyadzayo opened the scoring after 26 minutes to put the away side ahead.
Things went from bad to worse for United when Jamie Marsh was given two yellow cards in quick succession, receiving his marching orders just a minute before the break.
