LYE rose to the top of the table, but made hard work of victory over a spirited Rushden side who are rock bottom of the Midlands Division.
The visitors threatened in the first 30 minutes, but lacked a cutting edge and Lye took the lead after 42 when keeper George Rose could only parry a cross from Matt Funge and the ball came out to Ben Bellingham who made no mistake.
Sam Tye bundled the ball home from a corner right on half-time to make it two.
