CONSETT went third in the table after a comfortable win over struggling Grimsby Borough.
It was an entertaining meeting of two good footballing sides, but it was a route one goal which gave Consett the lead in the 12th minute.
Keeper James Anderson punted the ball down the middle and when the visiting defence failed to deal with it, Jake Orrell scored with a cool finish.
Anderson then preserved the lead with a good save with his legs from Sam Topliss as Borough sought parity.
