MERSTHAM roared into a two-goal lead inside the first ten minutes, but a second-half fightback from Herne Bay ensured the points were shared.
The home side took just 80 seconds to open their account with a Harry Pointing header from Jude Molloy’s cross.
In the ninth minute, Lorenzo Lewis cut inside and hit a blistering shot which flew past the keeper to make it two.
