REAL Bedford began their Step 4 campaign at the Ledger Stadium with a victory over Hertford Town.
Hertford had an early chance denied but Bedford struck first, Ben Stevens capitalising on good play from the left to fire into the top corner after just five minutes.
Despite Bedford’s push for a second, Hertford had a golden opportunity to equalise when Bagge won a penalty, but Bakkali’s spot-kick was brilliantly saved by McGregor.
