IN a match that started sluggishly, Chasetown ultimately found their rhythm to secure a hard-fought win.
The first half offered few clear-cut opportunities for either side. Chasetown looked to seize control as Danny O’Callaghan tried his luck with a powerful long-range effort, which Widnes’ keeper fumbled but managed to recover.
The second half saw a rejuvenated Chasetown side take the initiative.
