■ ATHERTON Collieries picked up a big three points in their survival pursuit with a home victory against Nantwich.
The first half was one which can generously be described as attritional, with the only chance of note falling to Collieries’ Scott Bakkor after great work by both Tom Bentham and Danny Lambert.
Both teams were geed up over the half-time interval, and the Stripes broke the deadlock from the go, as Scott Bakkor did the hard work to provide an empty net for Aaron Dwyer to tap home.
