Former Arsenal midfielder Ian Selley has left his post at Step 4 Westfield after 15 months in charge.
The Isthmian Division One South Central club rose from mid-table in 2022/23 to 5th last season, losing to Marlow in the play-offs.
Selley, 50 in June, had previously managed Sandhurst Town, hometown club Chertsey Town and Hartley Wintney before landing the Westfield job in February 2023.
As a player he is remembered for being part of the Arsenal side which won the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1994. He later drifted into non-league, notably making over 100 appearances for Woking between 2003 and 2007.
The Marlow official website released a statement:
“It is with much sadness the club announces that Ian Selley has tendered his resignation as first team manager.
“Ian provided us with many highlights and an unforgettable season where we finished in the play-off spots and narrowly went out to Marlow, who were eventually promoted.
“In what ended up to be Ian’s last game in charge, he fittingly brought silverware back to Woking Park in the form of the Aldershot Senior Cup and the club are extremely grateful for his short but successful tenure, and wish him all the best in the future along with assistant Mick Bennett, who will also be leaving.”
