Ashford United have continued their squad revamp with the acquisition of Lee Martin.
The former Manchester United youngster has signed from Ramsgate and will combine playing with coaching duties for the Pitching In Isthmian League South East side.
Martin, 37, made one league outing for United in May 2009 before joining Ipswich Town for around £1.5m.
He also had spells at Millwall, Gillingham and Exeter City before dropping into non-league with Ebbsfleet United in 2020.
The midfielder left the National League South side two years later for Dover Athletic, spending a season there before a year at Ramsgate.
Martin is Ashford’s 11th signing of the season, arriving alongside goalkeeper Mitch Beeney, who spent the second half of last season at Chatham Town.
Ashford boss Danny Kedwell told the club’s official website:
“Make no mistake, Lee is a top, top player and had a lot of interest from clubs.
“Lee will be part of my coaching staff, but ultimately his coaching and vision will come while playing.”
The Kent side finished 11th in Step 4 last season.
