CARLTON Town chairman Mick Garton says he has never received so many text messages following the sad passing of club legend Brian Dennett.
The Millers’ much-loved commercial manager passed away on Wednesday night after contracting Covid-19.
Dennett has been a permanent fixture at the Bill Stokeld Stadium through Garton’s tenure, starting as press officer before being promoted to commercial manager over a decade ago.
“He was a brilliant commercial manager who raised thousands for this football club,” Garton said.
“But more than anything, he was also a close friend and he will leave a big hole in so many ways.”
Another club legend, Martin Ball, who is still playing for the club, added: “The effect he’s had on Carlton in particular and all of Nottingham non league football will never be forgotten.
“Rest In Peace Brian, you will be greatly missed.”
● It has also been proposed that the forthcoming 16-team tournament, devised to replace the remainder of the Step 3-6 season, should be named “The Brian Dennett Cup” in the Millers’ legend’s honour.
An announcement on clubs entered and dates will be announced soon.
