Two of the Southern League Division One Central’s meanest defences go head-to-head at the Corinium Stadium on Saturday, when Cirencester Town host Barton Rovers.
Only two sides – Bedford Town and Biggleswade Town – have conceded fewer goals than Cirencester to date: the home side have let in just 41 goals in 32 games.
Barton have conceded 42 goals in 28 games, giving them the fourth tightest back line so far this season.
Barton are 15th in the table after 28 games, of which they have won nine and drawn 11, earning 38 points.
Cirencester are nine places ahead of Rovers in sixth, with 12 wins and nine draws putting them on 45 points.
Town are in disappointing form in the Southern League Division One Central, with one win and two draws from their last six games.
With three wins and three draws over that period, the visitors’ form is much better – they have taken 12 points from 18, compared to the home team’s five.
In the last three years, Cirencester and Barton have played each other on three occasions. Cirencester won two of them and Barton one.
Their last meeting was on November 25, when Cirencester won 3-1 away.
Cirencester’s last match was on April 6, a 1-1 draw against Biggleswade.
Barton drew 0-0 with Waltham Abbey last time out, also on April 6.
