ANDOVER Town have been handed a double relegation for refusing promotion to the Evo-Stik Southern League.
The club, who were founded in 2013 and who played at defunct Andover FC’s Portway Stadium, finished runners-up in the Wessex Premier.
But they decided in early May that they could not afford Step 4 football – and instead have been relegated to Step 6, the Wessex league’s lower division.
A club statement said that key figures in the club had resigned for business and personal reasons, and there was a consequent loss of “significant” sponsorship.
