HEANOR OPT FOR DROP TO CUT COSTS

HEANOR Town have voluntarily relegated themselves from Step 5 – and have called on the FA to do more to help clubs survive and compete at that level.
Despite finishing 13th in the Total Motion Midland Premier, Heanor have opted to return to the East Midlands Counties League, of which they are founder members, after five years at the higher level, in a bid to cut costs.
Not only have the club found traveling expenses at Step 5 too high, but their local council landlords have told them that they must fund the ground maintenance for the first time in their 135-year history...
