WORCESTER City’s plans to develop a new stadium have been left hanging in the balance after receiving a setback at a key meeting of council planners.
On Thursday, the city council’s planning committee chairman Coun Chris Mitchell used his casting vote against the scheme after members had reached a 5-5 deadlock over a final decision on whether to give consent.
Coun Mitchell voted against the recommendation of the council’s planning officers in that he was “minded to refuse” permission for the 4,400- capacity stadium in Perdiswell Park.
