STUDENTS’ TEEN KEEPER LANG IS ON TOP FORM

CARDIFF METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITYstarted the new JD Welsh Premier League season with an entertaining 2-1 victory over Newtown at the Cyncoed Campus.
The game sparked to life after just six minutes when Neil Mitchell went down in the Met box to earn Newtown a penalty.
But teenager goalkeeper Alex Lang won the battle as he kept out Nick Rushton’s spot-kick.
Minutes later, Eliot Evans fired the Archers ahead after a superb Matt Neale ball.
Rushton had another chance to get Newtown on the scoreboard, but 19-year-old Lang was once again the victor.
