FORMER Oldham Athletic boss Darren Kelly has been named Neil Aspin’s successor at FC Halifax Town.
The Northern Irishman was sacked after just nine games as Oldham manager and now has been tasked with replacing Aspin at The Shay.
The ex-Halifax boss was sacked last month after a slow start to the Vanarama National League campaign and the Shaymen currently sit second bottom with one win from 13 games.
Kelly becomes only the third permanent manager since Halifax reformed at the start of the 2008-09 season and the 36-year-old has signed a deal until the end of the season with an option to extend it.
“I am delighted to be joining such an historic club,” Kelly, who will be assisted by former Forest Green, Morecambe, Chester and Stalybridge boss Jim Harvey, said.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I am excited about the challenge we have ahead of us.”
Chairman David Bosomworth added: “We are delighted to welcome both Darren and Jim to the football club. They are both highly regarded within the game and we are confident they have the drive and ambition to take this club forward.”
