LUKE GARRARD has stepped up to become Boreham Wood‘s new boss following the resignation of Ian Allinson earlier this week.
Allinson, who led the Wood to Non-League‘s top tier, stepped down after the club’s move to day-time training conflicted with his job at Carlsberg.
And the Vanarama National League club haven’t had to look far for his replacement with Garrard making the move from assistant to first team manager.
Garrard, who had been assisting Allinson for the past three years, has also served as the club’s academy director and has been overseeing training with coach Junior Lewis.
He becomes the youngest boss in England’s top five divisions at the age of 30 and he takes over a side currently 20th in the National League table.
“I’m excited by the clubs future plans and appreciate the confidence that Danny (Hunter, chairman) is showing in me, by giving me the role,” he said.
“We have spoke in regards to what is expected of the dressing room for this season and I believe that can certainly be achieved.
“We have a very good group of players at the club and with the day-time training and contact time with myself and Junior Lewis now in place, I feel the results can and will improve.
“The club is and has been a huge part of my life, I have gained valuable experienced since joining the coaching staff eight years ago and I feel ready to take on the challenges in this next progression.
“Our focus is only about looking forward to Saturday’s away trip to Guiseley. We now have two sessions to prepare properly, as we look to go there and return with a positive result. The aim is to climb the league as soon as possible and I have great faith that myself and this set of players can achieve that.”
