BARROW boss Darren Edmondson has left the National League club by mutual consent following two years at Holker Street.
Edmondson, 44, joined the Bluebirds in December 2013 from local rivals Workington, leading the club from the Conference North relegation zone to a mid-table finish.
He took Barrow to the Conference North title last season, clinching promotion with a 3-2 final day win at Lowestoft Town.
The Bluebirds started their National League campaign with a 2-1 win against Dover but “with results not going in Barrow’s favour”, Edmondson has left.
Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Dover made it just one win in six league games although Barrow still sit in 16tth in the National League, ten points clear of danger.
Edmondson was given a month to turn the club’s fortunes around in late October by Barrow’s millionaire owner Paul Casson who said he was “not willing to give the season away”.
Former Mansfield Town boss Paul Cox has been heavily linked with the position and a club statement said: “Barrow then started the National League season with a 2-1 victory over Dover Athletic, but with recent results not going in Barrow’s favour, both parties agreed that parting company would be in their best interests.
“We would like to thank Darren for all his efforts whilst at club over the past two years, and wish him all the best for future endeavours.”
